Know Your Muscles

There are 10 major muscle groups in the human body, you must have a basic understanding of what they are and how they function. Knowing your muscle groups is a key factor in making huge gains while maintaining symmetry.

Quadriceps
The big muscles that come together to form the front thigh. Because there are ‘four’ such muscles they are called the “Quads” or the “Quadriceps”. Leg exercises are often advised to work the quads and help them grow. Exercises like squats, lunges, and leg press are excellent for working for this muscle group.

Hamstrings
The muscles that make up the rear end of your thighs are called hamstrings. A developed set of hamstrings is essential to get those curvy aesthetic thighs. Exercises like deadlifts, sumo squats are performed to work for this group.

Calves
The muscles directly behind your shin bone are called your calf muscles. One of the most ignored muscles, they make all the difference between overall good looking strong legs or aesthetically underdeveloped and weak legs. The double or single leg raise is a significant exercise for building the calves.

Chest
The chest is the most visible and sought after muscle group. The chest muscles are also called pectoral muscles. There is a group of four muscles that make up the entire chest. The bench press, dumbbell press, and incline press are great exercises to work the pecs.

Back
The back is a huge muscle group that stretches from the neck down to the waist. There are numerous muscles that make up your back. Having a strong and thick and back is going to make sure you have great posture and core strength. Deadlifts, pull-ups,chins up and some exercises that are often prescribed to maximize back gains.

Shoulders
The shoulder muscles or deltoids are located on either side of the neck(where the arms start from). There are three major muscles that form the shoulders. Shoulders are essential in giving you that bigger frame and overall size. Arnold press, side dumbbell press, and the barbell overhead press are good exercises to start with.

Triceps
Triceps are the muscles that are located behind the biceps. Triceps are bigger muscles than your biceps, so you need to work your triceps if you need those big guns. Triceps pull down and close grip bench press is compound exercises that help in tricep growth.

Biceps
Biceps are probably the most famous muscle group in the world. They’re the very definition of big guns. The biceps are made of multiple muscles and they all should be worked to get that big round look on the biceps. Dumbbell curls, hammer curls, barbell curls are essential for fully developed biceps.

Foreams
The forearms extend from your biceps down up to the wrists. Wrist flexions and extensions are a good way to work your forearms. Grip strength should also be covered in this body part, working your grip will allow you to execute more sets and reps.

Abs
Abs or abdominals muscles are located directly below the chest and up till the waist. The essential factor here is the percentage of your body fat, if your body fat percentage is low you are most likely to be able to see your ab muscles.
